The release of the new Trainer Challenge heralds a new beginning for the Pokémon TCG Online. With this in mind, I’d like to provide an update on the state of the game and what the next few weeks will look like.

In previous builds of the game, the entire Pokémon TCG Online site had to be put into maintenance to make updates to the game, resulting in hours of downtime. The game’s new architecture allows us to roll out bug fixes, updates and polish very rapidly via patching. Though the new Trainer Challenge is in a very early Beta state, we can improve the game at a much faster pace than previously through patches and iterations on our builds, with fewer service interruptions. We may still require weekly maintenance downtimes as we roll out major changes over the next month, but those disruptions should decrease in frequency as time goes on.

In the coming weeks, the Trainer Challenge will be seeing improvements to graphic quality, bug fixes, custom avatars and more. As always, we’ll need the community’s help to identify card bugs, confusing game flow and any other errors that arise after a patch. These bug reports should be as detailed as possible to help the developers quickly identify the problem and prioritize it for future patches. We’ll be posting a thread in the Feedback, Bugs & Suggestions forum with some examples of what an effective bug report should look like.

The moderators are working on an FAQ post, based on the questions being asked here on the forums. We’ll modify the post as things progress, to ensure that the community has the most recent information. Once posted, we ask that the community checks the FAQ before starting a new thread.

While we continue to work on polishing the new Trainer Challenge and the new multiplayer version of the game, players can still access their collection, redeem code cards, engage in trades, and build decks to test against computer-controlled opponents. These features can be accessed by visiting while logged in to the site.
